site news archive - making the switch

23rd December 2004 - 01:56

Well, it's finally happened. I don't know exactly what it was about it, but I've switched my default browser over to firefox.

When I first downloaded it it was only for the purposes of testing this site while I'm developing it, and I continued using IE as my main browser. Since then though I found myself using it more reguarly for browsing, recently I realised I was using it almost exclusively now, so I made the jump and changed it to the default.

I suspect it was a few things that ended up causing the switch. A few of the most prominent were the better rendering engine, better CSS support, and the support for alternate stylesheets, which have been made usable by the stylesheet chooser plus extension. I also found myself using tabbed browsing quite a lot, which is much more pleasant than having many many IE windows open.

So there you have it, another firefox convert, go download it, it really is better.
